Making peace with unfinished tasks

Dec 20, 2024

It’s mid-December. The year’s wrapping up, and if you’re like most of us, your to-do list still looks way too long.

I know I’m guilty of cramming more tasks onto my daily to-do list than I could ever possibly get done.

But let’s consider a new perspective… What if the end of the year wasn’t a finish line? Not every project needs to be wrapped in a bow before January 1st. And that’s okay.

The things we leave undone aren’t signs of failure – they’re a reflection of ambition. They remind us of what’s still possible, what can be tackled with fresh eyes in the new year.

Instead of scrambling to “finish everything,” take a step back and think about what matters most right now. Leave space for the ideas and projects that deserve more thought, more care, or just more time.

The rest? It can wait.

So, as you glance at that list, ask yourself: what can you let go of today to start the new year energized instead of burnt out?

Because sometimes, the best gift you can give yourself is permission to pause.
