You don’t need to start from scratch when updating an old blog post. Instead, look for spots where you can add current examples, freshen up those dusty statistics, or break up dense paragraphs with helpful bullet points.
Let me give you an example of what worked for one of my insurance clients…
Before: The post covered all the basics, like policy features, coverage limits, and general risk factors. Good foundational content, but it wasn’t ranking much on Google.
After: We added specific examples that business owners could relate to (a web designer facing a scope creep dispute and a consultant dealing with a project delay claim). We included typical premium ranges by profession and broke down when each coverage type makes sense.
The result? The post moved from ranking 14 to 4, all because we showed readers what professional liability insurance looks like in real life.
