I was reading through the Content Marketing Institute’s annual B2B Content Marketing Benchmarks, Budgets, and Trends: Outlook for 2025, and something stood out to me:
- A pretty big chunk (58%) of B2B marketers say their content strategy is only “moderately effective.”
- And nearly half of those say their strategy struggles because they lack clear goals.
The solution? You’ve probably heard it before… “You need to align content with your business goals.”
But what does that even mean?
That’s what I’m going to focus on this week.
I’m sharing a framework that’s helped my clients go from random posts with content that goes nowhere to content that’s focused, data-driven, and adaptable.
Think of it like this: Just like you wouldn’t hire someone without knowing what job they’re going to do, you shouldn’t create content without knowing its purpose.
Sure, posting something is better than nothing – but wouldn’t you rather post with purpose?
Try this right now: before you post anything, ask:
- Does this help me get more leads, sales, or brand awareness?
- Will my ideal customer care about this?
- Is there a clear next step for my audience (CTA)?
If you can’t answer these, pause — and rethink your content.
Over the next few days, I’ll walk you through a 6-step framework that will make sure your content actually works for your business, not just for the algorithm.
Tomorrow, we’re starting with the basics: figuring out what you actually want your content to do for your business. Because if you don’t know where you’re heading, even the prettiest content calendar won’t get you there.
